Upma

Also known as upittu, upma is a class of porridge that is thickened to edible consistencies. It is very popular in the western and southern parts of India and has undergone several innovations with the use of bread and egg for variety. The seasoning and the garnish of coriander leaves is what makes the delicacy stand out.

Puttu

One of the most popular breakfast delicacies in Kerala, this wholesome plate of happiness is like the Indian version of sushi. Rice is steamed and served in cylinders with coconut. Popular in Sri Lanka as well, the dish has a match made in heaven in the form of kadala curry or peas gravy. Steaming makes the dish healthy and ideal for breakfast.
